Legacy System Support for Waste Management Company

Ongoing technical support for one of Europe's largest waste management companies.

Requirements

One of our clients, a global waste management company, uses a specially made internal system built on Microsoft Visual Basic 6 for logging weights at their Weighbridge stations.

From there, the weight is inputted straight into the system and staff manage invoices, customers, stock, sites and log signatures in the system.

Built over 15 years ago, the system has been extensively and continuously developed to meet changing business demands. This made certain sections of code more bulked out than if it was written from first principles. After speaking with the client about their legacy system, we agreed to:

  • Diagnose issues with their Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 system
  • Resolve issues within agreed SLA times
  • On-site or remote repairs
  • Keep the system updated with the latest updates and security patches

Solution

If any defects occur to the system, the client informs our customer service team via our online Helpdesk, who immediately liaise with the development. Our legacy system support gives clients several benefits, including:

  • At least two PSP staff are trained on the system
  • Software issues diagnosed and resolved within agreed times
  • System is kept updated for security and performance
